Special Interview Series by Association of Young Arbitrators

Based on popular demand, the Association of Young Arbitrators has organized a special interview series for the Awardees of "Africa's 50 Most Promising Young Arbitration Practitioners" of the Year 2020. In a very engaging session held on Thursday 06 August 2020, Dipna Gunnoo (Head of MARC, Mauritius), along with Laura Alakija (Partner, Africa Legal, Lagos), Diamana Diawara (Counsel, International Court of Arbitration, International Chamber of Commerce, Paris) and Michelle Porter Wright (Counsel, Allen & Overy LLP, Johannesburg), shared their experiences working on disputes in Africa and practical tips on how young arbitration practitioners can improve their visibility within the arbitration community. The Head of MARC also spoke about the recent important developments in the arbitration space in Mauritius and on specific aspects that could make arbitral institutions in Africa become more attractive to arbitration users.

This session was moderated by Omonigho Oyoma Brown and Abayomi Okubote of the Association of Young Arbitrators (AYA Africa).
