Roundtable Discussion with ATMC, FSC, GFM and MRA
On 29 October 2019, the MCCI Arbitration and Mediation Center (MARC), in collaboration with the Association of Trust and Management Companies (ATMC) and Global Finance Mauritius (GFM), have organized a roundtable discussion which focused on the latest EU decision (on 10 October 2019) which recognized Mauritius as a compliant jurisdiction with the EU Tax Good Governance Principles.
This event was an opportunity for our guests, Mr Mario Hannelas, Director of Large Taxpayers Department of the Mauritius Revenue Authority (MRA) and Ms Nirupa Narayen, General Counsel of the Financial Services Commission (FSC), to discuss about the strategy and steps undertaken by Mauritius to be whitewashed. They also talked about the Global Business Licence, the substance requirements and the legal process and framework of the EU regarding the setting-up of a blacklist and a grey list of tax havens. Moreover, Mr Vinod Bussawah, CEO of ATMC and Mr Samade Jhummun, CEO of GFM shared their views regarding the outcome of this EU decision for the financial sector and operators in our country, especially in terms of competitiveness.
