MARC Appoints New Court Member

The MCCI Arbitration and Mediation Center is pleased to announce the appointment of Ms. Shaheda Peeroo to the MARC Court.
Shaheda Peeroo is a former Judge of the Supreme Court of Mauritius. She retired in 2016 as the most senior of the “Designated Judges” specialised for international arbitration matters, after having delivered judgments in a number of landmark cases, including Cruz City v Unitech Limited [Yearbook Com. Arb. 2014 (Vol 39) 447];[2014 MR 46] and UBS v MCB [2016 SCJ 43]. The Cruz City judgment was nominated by the Global Arbitration Review (GAR) for an award as "the most important published decision of 2014 for jurisprudential or other reasons". She is a member of the Administrative Tribunal of the African Union, and an arbitrator at Peeroo Chambers in Mauritius.
