The theme of this edition was ‘Government Contracting and Investment Disputes: Lessons for States and Investors’.
The Head of MARC, Ms Dipna Gunnoo was invited to speak about ‘Digitisation and Innovation in African Centres’ at the closing panel entitled ‘The Encore: The Future of African Arbitration’. The moderator of this panel was Dr Ismail Selim (Director, The Cairo Regional Center for International Commercial Arbitration, Egypt), and the other speakers were Ms Mercy Okiro (Advocate, Mwagambo and Okonjo Advocates, Kenya) who spoke about ‘Diversity in International Arbitration (Gender and Age)’, Mr Lawrence Muiruri (Registrar, Nairobi Centre for International Arbitration, Kenya) who elaborated on ‘Investment Arbitration in African Centres - Myth or reality?’ and Dr Fidele Masengo (Secretary General, Kigali International Arbitration Centre, Rwanda) who spoke about ‘Collaboration among Arbitration Centres – To what end?’.
