It was established in 1996 as an initiative of the MCCI to provide the business community with quick, efficient, flexible and confidential means of resolving disputes, through mediation or arbitration, as alternatives to litigation before state courts.
Its objectives are to offer quality and cost-efficient dispute resolution services to businesses via mediation and/or arbitration; to provide training in alternative dispute resolution methods; and to promote arbitration and mediation at local, regional and international levels.

The Mauritius Chamber of Commerce (MCCI) has embarked on an ambitious project funded by The Indian Ocean Rim Association (IORA). The project aims at setting up a collaborative platform through IORA Member States (Mauritius, Singapore, South Africa, India, Australia). The Project Lead from Mauritius is MARC’s Registrar. To evaluate the need for a specialized Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) Centre in the IORA region, IORA Secretariat is launching its project on the comparative analysis of Alternative Dispute Resolution mechanisms within the IORA region.
